Stradbroke Primary Academy takes part in Great Yarmouth Window Art Trail
BackLast summer, Stradbroke Primary Academy took part in the Great Yarmouth Window Art Trail in collaboration with Out There Arts and the High Streets Heritage Action Zones Cultural Programme. All pupils from Reception to Year 6 created their own postcard inspired by the history and heritage of Great Yarmouth, in the style of WWII railway posters.
All pupils enjoyed the opportunity to further develop their love and passion for art, exploring skills such as observational drawing, typography, human form and colour. This was an exciting whole school collaborative piece that enabled all children to learn about local history in a fun and creative way.
The amazing artwork produced by pupils were installed in the marketplace in Great Yarmouth to be displayed over the summer. Due to the large amount of art produced displays were created in Lloyds, Nationwide and Barclays, and attracted lots of attention and positive feedback from staff and passers-by's alike and were a joyful and colourful addition to the town.
The High Streets Heritage Action Zones Cultural Programme aims to help people feel proud of where they live and to engage communities with their local high streets, and celebrate the role and importance of these historic areas as hubs of the community.
The Great Yarmouth Cultural programme will be hosting a year round window trail within businesses and shop fronts throughout the historic town centre. Using windows as platforms for multi media creative displays to explore the towns rich heritage, professional artists have co-created striking installations through workshops and creative participatory activities, to celebrate the towns buildings, people, shops, trades, crafts, folklore, cultural and maritime traditions.
